Combines Saw 9880 Combine

They haven't figured out their $n!^ on the STS's what do they think they are doing changing things up again. Every equipment co_model whatever that I can think of, Case_New Holland, Cat lexion, Massey_Challenger, Gleaner are all going up in my book, and this to me is John Deere taking yet another step back. Their asking for big trouble. JD changes on little option and they have to change the model n. look at the Mechanical Fronts. 8400, 8410, next the 8450. Combines....9600, hey, we made a change, we'll call it the 9610, oops, its a year later, lets up date IT! 9650. Same with 4X4 tractors. I can't even keep up with the numbers. At least companies like Gleaner can keep a R-72, and til just recently have the R-75, but that was due. They didn't change it practically a year later already. This is getting rediculous. Your right..they do change numbers a little too much.But if you look at it STS's and other equipment are not really hard to figure out,its more common sense,numbers go up in models,(ok following meIJgood)First two numbers rarely change, sense 1989 you have 94,95,96 now thats the class of combine (ok) now add a bigger class 97,then you have what they call a series 00,10,50 pretty much tells me the year and improvment of the machine(neat uhIJ)Now they won't mix series of combines together like a 9750-9780 that won't happen the 9880sts if a over sea's seriesand a bigger class,The 80won't be used in US, most likely it will be the same series like 9750-9850.Now tractors are about the same..8400,8410,8420...Now if that don't help,maybe you should just stay in the NH site,that way you won't get confused.

Ok Smart man You tell me this then, My dad went in to a deere dealer ship to get a price on a used 7800 tractor he asked the sales man what they wanted for this tractor. All my dad ased was the price of the 7800 they only had one tractor. The sales man told dad that they wanted 465,000 for the unit. My dad and the guy standing there almost fell over. Then the sales man tried telling dad that he would need the big pickup and the ten row corn head. Dad asked what that was for all he wanted was the tractor. The sales man finly told dad that was the price of the 7800 sp forage harvester. John deere is the only company i now that mixes numbers between machines.ex tractor forage harvester: tractor combine etc.

Deere isn't the only company who mixes numbers; - you can buy two different vintages of Case 1660 combines.

True but that is stiil a combine. I f i am asking about 7800 or a 9400 and i was talking to some one that did not now that deere made a 9400 tractor or combine or tractor and a forge harvest that person would be very confused, as was my dad he was under the thought that deere still made the 6950 spf like we have he did not now about the new machines. Dad new about the 7800 tractor's because we tried one when they came out liked them, but we were comitted to buying some land at the time. Colin

This is smart man!!(thanks,I always knew I was smart)..I'm sorry that you can't figure out deeres numbers..I agree that a 9400 could mean a tractor or a combine,confusing, I said before that deere does change there numbers around a little to much.9400 and 7800 is the only one I recall as the same.Thats why they put new equipment in newspapers and magazine's, you might just have to tell a salesman that knows equipment what you want..And if your looking at used equipment papers they have a list that says (COMBINES) than they show the numbers under them, than they show (TRACTORS) than a list under that, this way will help you out..I'm glad smart man can help..

JD 9880STS has been marketed in Europe for the first time in 2002,it has 465hp. Model has been introduced by Deere to try and take some market share away from Claas, whose 480 lexion is untouchable for capacity here in our heavy strawed wheat crops. Expect to see a 9850STS introduced in states for harvest 2003 with less horsepower!!

The most confusing thing for me is who is going broke, who is buying the companys that are going broke and who's trying to merge with who. Ha ha Solid Stable Still John Deere.

The fact that they're both (1660) combines would seemingly make it MORE confusing, whereas if you wanted information on a 9400 tractor (as opposed to a 9400 combine),then merely stating that you wish for information on a 9400 tractor (versus a 9400 combine) would "net" you the information you're looking for! It wasn't very observant on the Deere salesman's part to NOT differentiate what information your father wanted, but Deere has built alot of different product over the years so numbers are bound to duplicate.
