The class 8 machine that deere is releasing is a 9860. Haven't made it to the 70 series let alone the 80's.

I now the JD numbers I used to pull wrenches for a deere dealer and an agco dealer. My dad dose not now the numbers ok. The sales man should have also asked him if he was talking tractor or spf. I am not trying to start a war i was just making a point that deere is bad for doubling up there numbers. Colin

I know what you mean, I was talking about a 7200 planter and dealer was thinking tractor. Not enough numbers left out there I guess. A lot of tractor's have the same numbers, my 185 AC could be a MF or my 7000 AC could be mistaken for a Ford, or my 9170 DA may be a CIHIJ Just have to make sure everybody knows what they are talking about before you sign the check. I am shure the only reason the salesman though your dad was asking about a 7800 forage harvestor was because you already own a 6950 and thought you probally wanted to up grade majority of the time people are trading up to a newer item and not just purchasing another item if doing so you should specify.

If they are so stable and solid why all the talk about doing away with the floor planningIJ Why do something that will kill some dealers if there is so much profit floating aroundIJ If things are so great why do something to kill resale and trade in value that JD brags aboutIJ

The reason that John Deere used the slogan, "Solid. Stable. Still John Deere." is because they aren't being bought out or sold like all the other manufacturers are. If all these other manufacturers were so good, then why are they having to SEll themselves just so that they can stay alive. Everyone knows that Deere has never been sold before, and infact they are buying up smaller companies right now too. That is the way I see it.

just go buy a new holland. now all the model numbers have two letters which tell you if it is a tractor or a combine and then a number to distinguish the size. so much better.
