I just finished installing a SCH on my 500 20ft head. The cutter bar was stamped TOP and the bolt heads are on top, nuts on the bottom. Just my $.02

when i installed mine on my 324 the directions said heads up nuts down august wieser rosholt, sd

Then your guards are upside down. If the guards are on correct and the nuts are on top the sickle will not run without the nuts hitting the guards. I just found out the hard way.
