Combines SCH Sickle Head tbran

There is a flat bottom bar and a welded top piece that is bent. We lay a short keystock on each side and weld the upper piece after the bend to the lower and fillet the rest of the bend to the stock. Plenty of room. The late SCH's had a bigger bolt on the brg asy. I fell that the bolt breakage was caused by knife head flex and failure and not vice versa, but I have been wrong three times before.... anyway we no longer have an issue in this area.

Hey we have been breaking some SCH sickle heads, not the bolt but the actual head where the bent iron and flat iron come together. Is this an issue that the welding in that area fatiques the metal and needs a little reinforcementIJ

Gleaner has strengthen area between where ball socket fastens and area closer to wobble box. I think some guys have taken skid to machine shop for them to copy it with heavier iron. I think tbran has stiffened some with z shaped iron and we have with flat iron in key location. Seems there is getting to be to much flexing of plate with the tough cutting condition we can have these days. When plate flexes the head and sickle area tries to bend also which will break things. Take care
