i think there was some stationary threshing machines but you must think that we have a civil war from 1936 to 1939 and wen the Second Wold War ends, the Spanish goverment close all the borderlines and stay isolated from the rest of the wolrd. we haven't fuel and new machines so we have to do it by hand and with animals. we cut the wheat by hand, thresh by hand ... , we do it all by hand. I think we harvest the corn by hand and we carry it and put in the farm to dry. Wen the corn was dryed we thresh the crop by hand or with a small electric threshing. As you can see we had a lot of problems in Spain in these years. P.D. Sorry for my bad english but i wish you can understand it.

Yes, Sebas, we understand you. How did you thresh your grain by handIJ I have read where they used to spread the grain out on a barn floor and whack at it with flails to beat the grain loose. Is that how you did itIJ

I would say that we tresh the corn grain with the hands. You must think that in these years we seed only 2 or 3 acres of corn per farm, the rest we seed of wheat. For treshing the wheat we put the wheat pant in the floor and we walk with the animals with a cilindric stone. After we catch the straw and make a rick of straw. Finally we pick up the grain and put in the granary.

Sebas Thanks for telling us about farming in your country. Most of us will never have a chance to travel to other nations so talking with folks from other parts of the world is always interesting. Tom in Minnesota USA Where we have lots of snow and more coming
