Combines Separator Engage Time

I've been kind of wondering that myself. Our 1680 engages pretty quickly at low idle, but the 2188 takes atleast 6-7 seconds, and at low idle sometimes it will not engage at all. You have to rev the engine just a little and then it kicks in. My guess is that it has to do with oil pressure, but would like to hear the real reason.

The 1680 seems a bit long to me. My 2188 is slow when the ambient is really cold the first time you fire it in the day, but when warmed up is not. The 2188 is computer controlled as far as engine RPM needed to engage separator clutch. If the engine RPM is less than 1000 RPM, the computer locks it out. You will get an error message on your A-post which says "increase engine speed."

there is an accumulator on top of the pto housing that has probably lost its charge. can also be that the clutch packs are getting wore.
