Combines Seperator clutch R62

Are you taking voltage reading with circuit under load. Testing voltage present with wire unhooked without the load of the clutch coil is not an accurate test. Bad connections or resistance in wire will not show up without load. Also any ground problemsIJ There should also be an ohm spec. for clutch coil. Wish I knew it. Could supply artificial power to clutch with machine stopped and test for magnetism with pliers or something. I don't want to see you take something apart needlessly.

Thanks for the info. Will check voltage with a load and see what I've got. It could be a bad connection. Was cutting flooded wheat, lots of dust.

Good Place to check also is the rotary electrical cover to the spinning clutch! I think it has two screws and you can take the cover off and blow out with air and clean up with metho or WD40. That Clutch need a good deal of current to get it to kick in but once it's in the current draw drops down. It could be just a bad connection! ROM had ours go out one while cutting and the Header (Combine) was fairly stuff full! Got it going again after finding the connection to the clutch was disconnected. Rolf

It could be the bearing next to the feeder house. If it is going out the shaft will move and you will get too much gap between plates. MY $.02

You had it pegged. looked inside cover of electrical spinning box, had a bad brush. Robbed one off of another combine and all is well. Will put on entire new unit first chance. Vern

Cool, glad you got it up and running. I do that box yearly for us and so far it hasn't been a problem. Rolf
