Combines seperator clutch

84 models were l3's . The noise you hear might be slippage due to wear or low voltage. Check for both. low voltage is a trace back proceedure, wear is normal. Either replace armature and magnet or take to a machine shop and have resurfaced. When one pushes the button the machine should start immediately with no slippage over about one seconds worth or less. Bearings you can check for w_ normal check out proceedures.

I would try changing the brush holder some times it will go bad but still let it engage. you could swap it with the one on the hdr clutch.

I was told mine was an 84 when I bought it last year. It says anniversary special on the side. That alone should make it worth more money. By the way thanks for the help I'm up and running again.
