H stands for Hesston. The second letter, K, designates the year it was made. This system started in 2000. 2000 is designated by J, 2001 is K, 2002 is l and 2003 is M. The 27 designates model (corn head),and the 83 designates that it is a platform header. The rest of the serial number tells you what n the machine was off the line. Hope this helps.
