if you're referring to where the control valve sticks up, you have to remove the hydro, then remove the bolts holding the valve to the hydro, and remove the valve. One of the mounting bolts goes thru the control spool, holding it in place. Once the valve is lifted up, unhook the linkage, and you'll see how the rest comes apart.

We have fixed many by first measureing and marking exact depth of cans. Then we screw out to see where it runs into casting. Then we screw back in to remove enough casting with grinder so can will screw off far enough to install oring. I believe the guys have the new oring over can and then slip it down into groove after cutting old one loose.
