Combines setting 9750 for milo sorghum

Is the stalk still Green and the Grain DryIJ Or is the stalk dried up. Green stalk Milo is a hard crop to harvest. The stalk_leaves trys to hold the grain and ride it out over the rotor. Did you notice if it was rotor loss or from the sievesIJ drohrbough

Some of each. I did find some heads behind the rotor with some berries still left in tact but several of these were green. I'm still learning about these rotors. Yes, the plant is very green. A late 2" rain greened the leaves right up but did little for the grain.

First off I would do a power stall. There are two ways. First way you can load the combine and kill your header and separator switches. Slow the combine to the header stopping. let engine cool and shutoff engine. Second way is to Shut key off when combine is full. (I dont like this because that 2100-rpm hot motor is being shut off. Which means no oil moving to hot turbo and other parts. Either way similar result. First look at grain sample. Is it satisfactoryIJ Then get out look behind Header. Is there grain behind headerIJ If so look in some unthrashed Milo. (Did it shatter)IJ Then look behind combine. You can open up the little sieve access door and look at what is coming off the sieves and off the rotor. Raise up the chopper if necessary and look there. This will let you know where your losses are coming from. If you are still finding Milo on the stalk after the chopper. You could be shelling out Milo with the chopper. = Tighter concave clearance. If you find that you are riding it over the sieves look at your test weight and the material on the sieves during the power shutdown. Could need a little less wind. First priority is to get keep all of the grain in the combine. Only adjust one thing at a time. Then try it. look at the diff and go on. Don't make big changes either. This is a time consuming project but when your done it will make you smile. It is hard to trouble shoot these things without being there. I would probably start with: 650 to 750 cylinder rpm 6 12 concave clearance 1000 1100 fan speed 10 15 top sieve 3 6 bottom sieve Hope this helps. All conditions are diff.
