Combines setting corn head

You will just have to wait till its dry. Nothing works perfect when its wet. I have had the same problem but you might set the upper end of stripper plates a little closer so shucks and stuff don't get caught

I had this problem on a 963 head I used to own. There are some triangle pieces you can buy from the dealer that weld at the upper end of the row opening. This helps split the stalks and trash outward to the gathering chains and will not get hung up. Hope this helps.

I assume you have the stripper plates gapped wider at the rearIJ I forget what the book recommends, an 1_8th or 1_16th wider at the rear.

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't know the triangle pieces were available from parts. I will look into that. The stripper plates are set wider at the top, but I will check to see if they are in the range given in the manual. regards BM

it sounds like the rear stalk roll couplers or stalk roll shafts are worn in the gearbox are worn which means that eventhough you can put the knives will meet tha t does not mean that they do when the corn head runs the crop through-push up on the knives from the underside,if one goes up higher then the other-that is the defective roll
