Combines Setting up Combine for Swathing Hay

We did some rice straw, this was with a McDon header. Slid the tables and made some quite nice windrows. I have to add that a 9600 is a very expensive swather.

I'm contemplating purchasing a good used power unit (combine) and MacDon Draper header just for use as a swather. It seems there's plenty of good used (and dirt-cheap) combines on the market that would work for this application. Anyone know of any "downside" to this thoughtIJ Has anyone ever "gutted" a combine and just use it for this applicationIJ
