Two possbilities for your shaft monitor audible alarm. One is the switch at the bottom of the foot-n-inch pedal. This switch has 2 set of wires on it. One set for the alarm (which come in from the side). The alarm should sound with key on - engine not running then should quit with pedal down. The other set (at the rear of the switch) is for the neutral safety switch. One thing you could try is when you are in the field and the alarm is not working try just tapping on the inching pedal a few times. If the contacts are bad or out of adjustment slightly you might get the alarm to sound at least briefly. The second possiblity is the alarm itself is failing. The alarm is easy to remove then just test on a battery. To help decide which is at fault remove alarm wires from foot-n-inch switch and install a jumper wire between terminals of the harness. That will eliminate the switch so if the alarm fails to sound it's lilely the buzzer itself.
