Shelbourne will work fine if it is all blown the same direction (you can pick it up coming and going). If it is twisted up then you have more of a problem. you can still use one but you have to go very slow. Very tedious operation either way with the chance of filling the head with dirt and straw in a hurry. they actually work better in hailed cereals. If you are zerotil it might be wise to get one anyway. Otherwise a good pickup reel will work also (I have both). I will never rent my Shelbourne out again to answer your thought about renting one. If you don't want the Shelbourne could you E-mail me the location etc. of the one your looking at as I could use anotherIJ bahr5@sctelcom.net

I`m also in IN with down wheat.Checked around for a stripper head and found they are all sold or already rented or leased out. After talking to several farmers and dealers everyone seems to agree that the Massey Ferguson_Agco is a far better header than the Shelborne.Have no experience with either myself.Good luck

The CX series Shelbourne headers built after 97-98 have less problems and perform much better than the early units. Well worth the extra money in my opinion.
