Combines Shoe Bushings on 88 vs 66

This shaker system (88) depends on a tight fit and a exactly synchronised push from the cams on both sides. The replacement shaft and shaker cams provided by CIH are not a fit at all. They are way too loose on each other. If you are about to replace those , first slip the new cams onto the new shaft and you will see what I am talking about. There is no way the bushings and the shaker will last long term with this much play. CIH says they are manufactured 'within the specified tolerance'. Well, they are just too loose to work! I really hope the same batch of cams and shafts are not going into new machines, but I suspect they are. Consequently, 800 to 1000hrs + = shoe problems!!

That's enough for me not to buy another one. This is big bucks if you don't catch it in time, and of course it only breaks when you need it the most. I keep a close eye on mine and it has still let me down a bunch of times. I am kind of diappointed with my machine, have had it for 5 seasons and spent a pile of money on this thing. 2188....1997

I know what you are talking about. When I had 2188s I had a ton of trouble with one of them and the other one never caused any trouble in the sieve area. I have heard that Case has decided that on some of them that big u shaped hanger that the top and bottom sieves hang on was welded up out of square and on those particular machines there is know way to keep the bushings and sieves in those machines until you address that issue. After I traded off those machines I was back at the dealership a few weeks later and on the machine that I had so much trouble with they had it in the shop and were replacing that hanger. We are talking some money here but that may be what you will need to do to yours to fix that problem. Good luck!

What an engineering nightmare.

After installing my cleaning system repair kit your cleaning system will hold together. I have installed this kit into combines built in 1990 and still see the problems on 2588 combines, I do not believe that the gigs are the problem there simply was not enough room for these assemblies to move. I have combines that break the sieves every year but have not had any problelms for 4 seasons after my kit has been installed. I worked for case for 10 years and have been in business for myself for 8 years so I have a little experience. You should not have to replace the bushings for at least 1000 hours. All of the information for removing the contact points and replacing bushing and getting shoe and chaffer centered in the combine is in the kit. Thank you Gordon. csrkit.com for brochure. The sad part is you guys are paying for this problem with parts going higher every year, you guys need to get together and make case accountable. Chaffer rails are on back order, how many sieves and rails does case really sell, a lot all over the world.
