Combines shoe hangers

I don't know of anyone that has a regular schedule on changing hanger bushings. 900 hrs. doesn't seem too high, yet a bushing can fail anytime. Watch the action of the shoe at low idle. It should stroke smoothly fore and aft. If not, either a hanger bushing is bad, or one of the large bearings on the primary crank arm may be at fault. Be sure to locate the shoe in mid travel before the bolt is torqued if any are replaced.

I try to change the bushings at the 1500-1800 eng. hr mark. I haven't had one fail yet, knock on wood. I make it a winter time project to press the new ones in, when not much else is going on.
