Did your splines go on the coupler on the end of the flywheel we had that happen 2 times on the same machine the first time we took it to a machine shop and had it rebuilt it didnt last as the splines went on the shaft good luck its a real bugger

We have not taken it apart yet - was hoping to get a book to see how involved it was. We are hoping it is just a bearing as there is a slight grating noise and no vibration, but want to get it taken care of before it gets worse. John Deere shop rates here are $50_hr which I suppose is common all over. Thanks for the input, sounds like rebuilding the spline is not a good idea

Those splines are hardened by JD. Probably why the other feller's machine shop splines didn't last. I would advise buying the new shaft from Deere.

Im with Roy buy the new shaft and a new hub you may want to stock order it as overnight freight would be a killer good luck
