There is an upper limit stop ( for rocks ) and a lower limit stop on the feeder house bottom roller on both sides of the feeder house..if the lower limit is not clear down it will cause problems in light short grain...if you lower it the feeeder house noise will increase while empty or lightly loaded which is why it is kept raised when it will feed OK...if that does not solve the problem look at adding a link to the chain to set bottom roller as far forward as possible but check manual for measurement as there is a limit ...good luck
