Combines sick of idlers

You and I are in different leagues. You wonder why I dont have trouble with idlers and I wonder why you wear them out. In other words, I should start greasing them dailyIJ But your post above indicates greasing will not help anywayIJ So I have to be prepared to replace bushings every few yearsIJ Thanks for the heads up. Its not the bushing cost thats expensive but the extra wear on belts thats shorten the life of the belts and it always seems that there is one machine that the idlers are out of alignment. A lot more maintenance than should be required.

I can think of just two that need more attention than they should on the later machines and that be main drive and hydro. All the other hold pretty darn well. New machines likely have the hydro idler taken care of and am unsure of main drive. Maybe easiest thing to do with newer machines that bother is to grind a small groove in idler pivot to get grease to the areas you see there is pressure or wear. I doubt we would see wear if grease would easily flow to where pressure is. A have put in order at Gleaner for a wider pivot area when we started seeing the wear. Good luck.
