Combines sickle stopped

Something's wrong. Sickle is supposed to move FREElY! when it is in position where it usually travels I can move mine back and forth with one finger and thumb. If it is binding and catching, you are going to be hard on things and depending on which head you have, you might get to find out what a new wobble box costs. It is likely that you put a kink in the whip. When you finally get it out, take your time and be patient getting it straight. If you have never done one before, be very careful when you lace it back in. It will catch on hold downs etc. and you may have to push down or back slightly on the end as someone else pushes it into place. Do not use fingers for this task unless you want to see how a Dr. re-attaches them. I always use a two foot long piece of 1X2 to do the pushing with. BE CAREFUl!! Ed in Montana

I'm in a world of hurt now as I work alone. I'm thinking that I have parts of that deer horn lodged in the sickle Its so tight that I backed up the truck to use as an anchor and couldn't move it with a come along. P.S. Hows the deer hunting in your part of Montana EdIJ

You will have to loosen guards to slide it out, take off a few knives each side of the damaged area so you can straighten it. Also check the guards to make shure they are in line also, you can straighten forged knives by placing a pipe over them and bending them. Don't use it unless you can slide the bar back and forth by hand after your repairs, As far as the wobble box, if you have the means, replace every bearing, if it is series three or newer it should have 4 greese zerks, make sure they are in place. Good luck
