Combines site is struggling

I think the reason there is less interest on this site is a combination of the host who may or may not have to strict guidelines for posting, also I think that a lot of farmers and harvesters are just fed up with the price of this new equipment and the price of inputs and the price we get for our products. And the harvest here in North America is pretty well done for another season. I think some CNH reps. should post on here and tell us why their combines are so expensive I for one would like to know how they come up with the price of a new combine. My guess is once it is built they figure out what it cost them and add 200% to the price. I mean how else can you justify $300,000.00 for a 2388 when it won't combine much more in a day then a 20 year old 1680. I just would like to use that marketing in agriculture wouldn't that be great I mean it costs $2.00 to grow a bushel of wheat so you just add your 200% profit and we are good to go.

Al I agree with you 100% but with all the venders building parts for everybody and raising prices the company will follow suit. Who ever thought a bag of corn would list for over 200 bucks but then again I have not found any old cheap ones that will yeild with them either I dont know what the answer is, I guess farm the goverment.

I agree with you about the pricing of our combines. I did not know the CIH 2388 had reached the 300 grand mark. I thought that was such a wild price back when the lexion 485 came out with a 12-row corn head! I barely even see used machines around here, now, let alone new ones. Just no dealers like there used to be. At this rate, some combines will be at or very near the 500 grand mark in just 4 more years! That's half a million dollars! I don't know why so many of you guys even held on, once combines exceeded 100 grand! There sure was no parity for that, and it did not matter how many clients you had or how big the jobs were. As for the forum declining, I don't know what's been going on, but for some reason, new members can't register. That needs to be fixed. Still, most typically, THIS IS the time of year when a lot of banter gets posted. Yes, because harvest and fall planting is over, many farmers usually become more active here. I've noticed often less traffic here during the summer, when people like myself are too busy DOING combine stuff to just sit around and only TAlKING about combine stuff. There IS a BIG difference!

The $300,000.00 price would be in CDN $ and I think you would get a 30' rigid header with this price but I am not sure. You know what really upsets me is when you talk with a salesman they want to know what options you want on your machine I mean when you are paying that kind of money you should NOT have to wonder what options to buy. Everything should be standard on the combine there should be no such thing as options.

YEEESSS!!! I can't agree more! In fact, for that kind of money--why should it "sit on its straw spreader" even just six months of the year, let alone, 10-11! Geesh! I am thoroughly convinced for that kind of bread, it should be making ad baking the bread, too! With all their IT technology, our combines should replace our PC's, do our taxes, and anything else we can think of within their ability. Seriously, as far as I'm concerned, we've AlREADY PAID for the technological bells and whistles [go back to the Deere page and read my posts about this on the Naegele thread], so I want the combine companies to give us the whole enchilada!

Ive heard too that there is alot of problems with people not being able to get on here.. Also yeah....next year 400,000 bucks and the same augers that wear out in a few years and same problems It wouldn't be so bad if they would make some changes and up the price but when they don't (make any reall changes) and up the price 20,000 or 40,000 that kinda stinks Ohh look we mounted the winshied washer fluid on the right side of the combine :) HOOORRRRAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY lol

lOl Good post Heck we have all of these bell's and whistles but case still can't redisign the back of the combine so that pileups on the rear axle don't happen I hate that problem cause the field_fields would look perfect except for clumps of straw, ect, ect. Piles up on the back axel and then you turn and plop You would think with all of that money going into a combine and supersmart computers they could solve a lil dumb problem like that :)
