Tim:The skid shoes I put on Hibred's header last year worked real well.In light soil we have eliminated the "bull-dozing"and plugging in front of the knife.I designed these shoes in 2003 and never had the time to bring to the market place.Iam now in the process of trying to get pricing on the material and machine shop services since these shoes were made 4 years ago.The installation involved total removal of feather sheet hold down.We changed the design on the hold down-higher profile and 12" sections. We started installing skid shoes at the wobble-box end.Modified anchors will be part of the kit and are welded to the shoes as the shoes are installed. You also need to weld on the support block for the stabilizer on the wobble box shoe. Each shoe is bolted to the cutter bar with 4 bolts which means drilling 4 holes per foot of cutter bar.All of your old skid shoes are removed and discarded!I may look to Gleaner dealers to market since I live in Ontario and would have to ship across an international boarder. The installation took 40 man hours but Hibred feels it was worth the effort. The shoes are punched for plastic shoes but we never used since shoes are thicker than original.
