I'd always heard of using tomato juice. Never heard of orange juice for skunk odor. Glad it worked.I've had numerous dogs that have been sprayed by skunks! What a pain! We washed them with orange juice first and then peroxide and Dawn. I think we gave them 2 or 3 baths to get rid of the smell.
Ah, good point about the peroxide and Dawn.Honestly I think what worked was the peroxide and Dawn. My mom was allergic to tomatoes so we never had tomato juice in the house. She always just used orange juice and I guess I never switched it up as an adult.

Yeah, time is a dependable solution, but it takes a while. Bathing a cat never leads to anything but the bather getting scratched up. I've heard a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish detergent works best.A skunk sprayed my poor cat a month or so ago. I tried bathing him with tomato juice, because I've heard that same tip that you guys have, but it didn't help at all. The emergency vet told us to wash him with blue Dawn dish soap a few times. It helped some, but the real truth is that it just has to wear off. It took a couple of weeks and several baths before it was tolerable. If you find something that works better, @Otis_68, please give us an update.
