Check the bearings, gears and gear mesh on the spreader drive. If they are going out it will load up the rest of the drive. We had to do a total rebuild using steel gears out of an old PTO combine drive box before we could get any life out of our spreader drive. The replacement gears from AGCO were made out of solid gold or at least that is what their price suggested! Hydraulic drive retrofit seems to be the way to go. Cheers.

something doesn't sound right here. Heavy straw load might be associated with excessive tailings as well. Try lowering the top chaffer about an 1_8th make sure the back section is same clearance as the ft. and then raising the seive about a 1_16th. Of course check out the gears as mentioned. The most important thing is to check the tightness on the jackshaft belt that DRIVES the tailings and the clean grain elevators. I have seen many of these need tightening or replacing. (Also check the keyway in the top driveshaft to be sure shaft is not turning in drive sheave.) This belt could be the case if the clean grain elev warning light comes on after the tailings as you slow down the eng RPM. let us know. The thing that needs to happen is have someone trot along beside to listen and observe what is happening, belt slipping or clutch chattering.
