Combines Snow covered Soybean s spotted near Shakespeare Ontario

Pretty strong statements to be made by someone who doesn't know what the circumstances could be that have this farmer still trying to get his crops off. Things like cancer, sickness, and death, don't take time off during harvest or holiday seasons....and with the way equipment and manpower are stretched thin to cover as many acres as possible it doesn't take much to throw off a productive harvest. If my 2388 wasn't needed to finish up my 250acres of corn left, I'd offer to drive the 1 1_2 hours to Stratford to help this guy out if he needed it.....wouldn't be the first time we've donated time_equipment out to help a jammmed-up guy. To me, this is the problem with farming now a days....guys would rather talk about their neighbour(s) than help them. Safe and Happy New Years to all !

I know guys here in North Dakota have had a heck of a crop season as far as weather. There are some beans still in the field in the northern part, as well as the occasionaly wheat and corn. Combine brand has nothing to do with it, its all in the good lord. We had alot of rain here, cool days, crops just didnt mature like they should, plus we had early frosts. To poke fun at a farmer like that in a year like this is not the most intellegent thing to do. One must put on the farmers shoes and wear them before he can make statements like that. $10 dollar beans was in Canadian dollars at the peak of last spring's rally. I got about 20 % of my 2004 crop in at these prices but was afraid to contract any more because of the cool, damp, and overcast weather last spring. My elevator told me that less than 10% of the Ontario crop was contracted at this price. This was at the same time bean were being contracted at better than $7.00 US local elevator price. You could say the same about the corn still out there. Some people are willing to field dry the corn and accept the broken stalks that go with that as compared to the high cost of drying 30% corn.

The guy said last year and there was a lot of 10.00 beans but not in Jan but who knows the reason why they were left out.Maybe should hired some body to help.

That's not the only one. When I was snowmobiling a couple days ago we rode though 2 or 3 soybean fields between Woodstock and Thamesford. Several fields of corn were also left out.

You seriously cannot be a farmer poking such fun at one of your own. Only city pokes would remember farmers and $10.00 beans and wow all the money they must be making. What about all of those $5.00 beans, oh sorry you forgot.

Sounds like someone didn't get what they wanted for Christmas and is taking it out on the inocent snowmobiler. Your ignorance clearly shows you don't "ride". Rule n1 when snowmobiling is stay on the trail, that particular trail DID go though the standing soybeans so... TAKE IT UP WITH THE OFSC...... Ya Idiot!

you aint kiddin, i have 50 acres of beans under the snow at the moment, and thats the way it usually happens every year, so what, last year when we got them off in the spring, the spring price was three times that of fall prices, and we figgure we lost less than half due to pod shatter. so there, do the math on that one, take care of your own harvest and worry about the neighbors if and only if they need help. i love people that critisize farming practices, away from their own farm. get a life

We got done corn 2 days before the first snow hit. Ya making fun of someone for that reason without knowing what the reason is isn't right. Cold Springs still have soys left in the field. Guy outside of Town here has corn and beans left in the field but its ok to make fun of them in my opinion. Some days when its nice out they sit inside for no reason. Take care, Nathan
