I got $18,000 for it. I was asking $19,500 but I figured that was a fair price. It was a 1979 model, 3595 engine hours, 24 ft 810 head. Two sets of concaves and grates with it too. Always shedded and kept it in pretty good shape. Icut certified seed wheat so it gets cleaned out completely three or four times a year. I put the new cross flow fan on it a few years ago and it has an air foil chaffer. It will clean and thrash any grain nicely. It would run out of motor in heavy wheat straw and out of elevator in wet milo, other than that, it would really thrash the crop. I let a two wheel homemade header trailer go with it for that price too. I can send pics if anyone wants to see it. E-mail me. John

South Central Kansas here. The wheat that got planted by Oct 31 looks pretty good. It turned wet and we finished up just before Christmas. That wheat is just coming up, but looks to be a good stand. Very little wheat topdressed here because of the VERY wet weather. looks like rain for tomorrow again. Much of SE Kansas never got planted at all. Thanks for the header link.

Wow, If somebody came and offered my 18,000 for ours it'd take a trip too!!! 1980 with about 5000 hrs, but very well maintained. Chads

Big Al: Is this just a inventory reduction sale or a closeout of the dealership auctionIJ

No kiddin Chad, that is good money for a 25 year old machine. Would make an excellent down payment on a 1688. IMO would be the combine to own if keeping for 20 years. Just needed an electric clutch on the unloader.

Kinda what I was thinkin. If you want to go around to some of the consignment auctions and take your chances, you can get some pretty decent 1688's in the low 20's, although they might not have a chopper(which isn't an issue) or 4WD(which is). I can pull the handle on the unloader for the difference in price, or, there were some guys on here a while back talking about rigging up the same system the 2188's used on the older combines. Seemed it's just a cylinder doing what the handle and cable used to do. Better yet, I think I'll just keep converting my ole '80 up as the need and funds arise. Eventually, I'll have a 14_16_80_88 ;0) Gonna be hard to find the decals though. Chads Chads Chads

It is just an inventory reduction the dealership has 3 stores and this is equipment from all 3 stores I guess. Sure is a lot of Close to New Big Horse Power Tractors listed.
