Combines someone tell deere to make a adjustable chopper

let me ask this. Why is a chopper even necessary on a rotorIJ Can't a guy get by with just a spreader, since a rotor cuts the straw a lot more than a conventional. At least on a spreader you can adjust the speed.

Check out the Mav chopper, I think manufactured by redekopIJ.......I havent operated one yet, but guys tell me its what you'd be looking for......they even will paint one green for you. Good luck

If you plan on no-tilling, a spreader is no good. Ever drive by a corn field that was planted on wheat stubbleIJ You can always tell where the Case combines ran. The yield will also be reduced in those areas. That is why you need a chopper.

That might be true with Case, of which I have no experience. We were talking about Deere.

It is true for deere too if you run spreaders. Put spreaders on there and it spreads the same exact pattern as a case. They are junk, stick with a chopper.

JDFarmer, Most IH combines do have choppers on them (they are internal). So I do not think the combine is to blame for bad corn following wheattry again. Maybe something like red paint salts the soil would be more believable. Or the seeding depth cannot be maintained due to all the red combine parts lying in the field. ;-) I guess we should just hope for a day when they quit making IH combines. Then the holes in the ozone will go away, the economy will go through the roof, and everyone will live in a utopian society. (lol)

Hey, Shoot me an email on this MAV chopper. I do some rep work for Redekop here in the states. I think it would be a solution for your operation.

The last two deere combines that I've owned had a chopper with all of the attributes that you mentioned. The only thing missing was the ability to change the position of the stationary knives with the flick of a switch. You have to loosen two bolts to do that. Am I missing somethingIJ

So how do you feel about John Deere going to rotors.. Sure took you guys a long time to figure out that was a better way to do things :)
