Combines soybean outlook

Hey greengoose it sounds like you run a deere with high maintenance costsIJ To be quite honest the 500 acres of custom combining was only my booked soyabean acres,I will have harvested a total of 1500 acres this year in corn, beans and wheat. It sounds like you are a local competitor so I don't think I'll elaborate on how I can do this financially but I can still make good money doing it. No I don't get a big fat milk check every month and I still don't have the lowest rates in combing here in the area. AS THE SAYING GOES '' IF YOU CAN'T TAKE THE HEAT GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN ''. I do not have any desire to destroy your lively hood or that of anyone else but I crop land myself and feel the need to be able to provide my service at a competative rate. We are in an area with a high level of recent dutch dairy farmers that have moved here from Holland and they all prefer to be able to communicate in dutch. I so happen to be able to speak a little which I have learned over the years. Thanks and good luck!!! NDB.

Ripped Yes I do have a green machines and no they're not a high cost machine. It all depends on how you look after things! That's good that you have that much work. Someday you're probly hoping that you'll have 4000 acres of combining and need 2 big machinesIJ

I say, good for you if you can make ends meet charging what you do. I also wish you the best of luck with your harvest. The thing that bugs me is when people go knocking door to door saying "let me combine for you, I do it cheaper". My family has done custom combining for three generations now and have never "stole" land or work, and have built up a good reputation not only with our customers but also our fellow cash croppers and custom operators.

Just out of curiosity where abouts are you locatedIJ I have a gut feeling that I may have stepped on your toes as far as custom combing is concerned. Sorry if I did!!! So I guessed right about your deere combine!! Something tells me you run a 9650 sts that was new in 02_03IJIJ Yes it's nice running the latest and greatest no matter what brand but the PAYMENTS KEEP COMING!! This also explains why my rates are not at the top of the scale. My overhead cost is dramatically lower!! Heard you priced a new 9560IJ! possibly at '' AGRATURF '' IJIJ Try pricing a similar sized machine in red you might be surprised. Yes I know it might hurt but I won't tell your green friends that you had a weak moment!! Best of luck this harvest season GREENGOUSE!!

Ripped I run a 9500 as well as a new 03 sts warrenty means alot when you put over 500 hrs on a machine each year. Doesn't matter what the brand or colour the possibility of something to go wrong is much higher. And to be honest yes I know you been to pretty much 90% of my customers. I personally wouldn't do that to someone else cause I know what it feels like to have it done to me year in and year out

Be honest with meIJIJ 90% of your customer's or is it 90% of Steve's customersIJ You must be thinking of someone else. I have a working relationship with each and everyone of my customers due to the fact of custom application! It could be that word of mouth advertising is working for me more than I know but that is due to a satisfied customer not one who screams that I charge too much and say's that I can't setup my machine!!
