Combines soybean troubles

Sorry to hear you are having trouble but I am glad to discuss the topic because I am having the same problem except I dont have a cage sweep in my R60. last year Hyper II suggested hanging a flexible hose from the cage sweep arm that is above the brace between the thresher and separator sections of the cage. For those of us without cage sweeps, he suggested cage covers on the RH and lH lower rear of the thresher cage section and reduce cylinder rpms by about 50. That helped last year but this year tougher stalks require more rpms and plugging returned. I can go all day long without plugging but trouble starts about 1_2 hour before sunset. Sound familiarIJ I have thought of adding more cage covers on the bottom rear of the thresher section but havent gotten around to it yet. Tom in MN

Discharge beater may not be pulling material from cylinder. Try turning serrated edge out on the discharge beater blades. Don't idle down the machine before material has cleared completely and clean floor behind beater well so material will slide better. Where does cage plug startIJ If in the middle just above left concave adjusting bolt install the hard covers on cage just the left of eyebolt and to the right of eyebolt. If material is hanging on right concave eyebolt you should build a shield over eyebolt to prevent material from hanging there and then building. Good luck

If plugging starts just above left concave adjusting bolt and you have no cage sweep. Built yourself a divider panel above the left eyebolt area and go about half way around cage. This will stop material from hanging over the divider support that is there now and should prevent buildup. May want to fabricate a tin cover over the concave adjusting eyebolts also to prevent material from starting to hang and build there. Good luck.
