I have used a Macdon 972 (new model is 973) in soybeans before, much better than a 960. I would not recommend the 960; the 972 has a cutterbar shape that allows the mud and debris to clean-out. I have used 25', 30', and 36' Macdon 972's in soybeans and peas. Much improved header losses than flex and easier feeding on a conventional. Macdon also has a 974 flexdraper, but it is very expensive. If you have relatively flat ground, the 972 (973) is your best option. In soybeans have never had to use crop lifter except in down beans.
