Combines spreading residue

With tall bats, all you should have to do is adjust them to the most aggressive angle, switch to the high speed pulley, and cut the rubber flaps back. That will let you spread the full 25 foot, and it is even.

1680cih For wheat we took of the side curtains and figure eighted the spreader drive belt to turn the spinners in the opposite direction. Now the straw is spread out in front and over the rear wheels. Thought straw might be forced back in sieve but have not had any trouble. The belt tightner is on the pressure side of the belt but have run it this way for couple years. This will eliminate the heavy windrow behind the combine. bob

We run a 30' bean head on a 1680.We have the small drive pulley, tall spreader bats in the aggresive position, rubber flaps cut back, and a double spreader vittetoe and this spreads it the full 30' feet.even in very heavy straw

With the tall bats in the most agg. position, trash really wants to build up on the axel. Then I have piles in the field that fell off. Has anyone made a The Spreader throw chaff farther than the wheelsIJ I do think Vittetoe is better, but this is what came with the machine

We run the Vittetoe with dual spinners. However, since we put the FFS air deflector in, I'm not sure we even need the chaff spreader. I tried to tell last year in wheat, riding behind the machine in another combine, but there was so much material coming out the back of the machine I couldn't see if anything was hitting the chaff spreader or not. I should have stopped, turned off the chaff spreader, and compared the spread of material, but when it's 100F and you want to get done with harvest, it's hard to justify stopping for experiments. Maybe some of the guys with the deflector can chime in.

Go to your dealer and ask him for the new curved spreader bats. Much, Much better than the tall spreader bats. If he does not know what you're talking about e-mail me and I'll get the part number for you. As for straw building up on the back axle and then falling off in piles, take the side flaps off and bolt them to that axle curtain to extend it down lower.

I have thought about using conveyer belting to make larger curtains to cover the axels. My standard ones are forward now with the rear 6" open. I am wondering if I am not running my bottom spreader fast enough. Thoughts thanks
