Talk to Pat at St. Johns and he will give you names of people that have done the conversion. After talking to some of them, I am going that route myself.

I think you mean Terry at St. John Welding. We have been running a St. John Rotor for 2 years in a 2188. It is very good in Milo, especially when the stalks are green. It also works very well in green stem soybeans. If you cut wheat when the straw is damp, I don't think anything will compare to it. However, when the wheat is dry during the heat of the day, it is easy to over-thresh it. For best results, a person should slow the rotor down in the afternoon. I would recommend this rotor to the owner_operator that is willing to dial in the combine to fit the conditions. If you are using hired help or want to use one setting all the time, the Specialty rotor is more forgiving. When properly set, I think the St. John Rotor will do the best job between the Specialty and the Standard Rotor. I have not used the AFX.

Weapon; I am sure the rotor will fit in your 1480. $3000. About half of what I have in it. SC Kansas. I've used it for 1.5 years. Works fantastic in green materials, the best I have ever used in green milo, worked well in green stem soybeans (the crop I had in mind when I had it built),works fine in wheat ( direct cut and stripped). It also did fine in windrowed Canola and double crop corn. Not much of a test on the corn though, 74 bu ,8r head. Will not handle hugh amounts of bone dry material. Double crop beans 40" tall planted in 3' tall stripped wheat stubble (grain moisture 8%) is why it is for sale. Cheers

That sounds tempting, but I'm afraid it would probably just set at our place also. We have made enough changes to our specialty rotor that it really works pretty well. Did you ever slug that rotor with the AFX frontIJ Did it ever growlIJ I haven't heard many reports on that combination. We wanted the elephant ears on ours so that we could hear the problems before the rotor stopped.

Yes and yes. It took some getting used to as it feeds wonderful. I had to start watching the power meter closely as it was smooth and mostly quiet. You could load it up until the fire went out without it even quivering. Feeder chain life has increased dramaticly. If you want to look at it Rodger @ Anthony can point you in the right direction. Cheers
