That's similar to what we've been doing for quite a few years, although rather than reducing the rotor diameter, we shorten the bar mounts and install a bar which is about 5_8" taller, using rasp type teeth, with about 18" coverage from front to rear of the mount. We've had them in virtually all crops, except rice, but they feed vines, thick grass crops, etc. well enough that I don't think rice would be a problem. There are somewhat more than 200 installed in IH machines and we have them in NH as well. AGCO likes them well enough that they're licensed for installation in the Massey_Challenger machines. I'd still like to see a photo of a ST rotor, however.
