my fatherinlaw has corn on corn for more than 30 years disc and plow only. not the best yeilds. hes retieing next year he going to do all beans. I farmed some of the ground he gave up and it is the harded dam ground to try to chishel plow. all black ground.but does raise nice beans

Around these parts(NC IA.) The heavy black soils here almost command a moldboard plow IF it's going back to corn. Yields will be hurt some otherwise I'm told. For'07, I'll have some corn after corn. Still have a plow, and used it there this past fall. Woods mowers don't seem to care what the job is, they do a fine job on stalks, grass, brush, what have you. Happy Holidays.

You dont need a plow just a DMI disk ripper.It gives good soil tilth mixing dirt,trash,and air.Aiding in the breakdown process.I have raised better yields on corn on corn with this than moldboard plowing.And my soil doesn't blow away in the spring.
