I think the beans have to much SDS. Early beans were hit hard, late beans, well to late. I do not think the beans will be very good, but I have never had a good corn crop and a good bean crop in the same year. Will not make a big difference looks like we will give it away this year. Hows crops in your areaIJIJIJ

Dave, first thing is I'm not a farmer. I don't think I'm smart enough and I know for sure I don't have the appetite for risk that it obviously takes to make a go of it. Occasionally, my brother in law lets me to try to keep a load on his R72's which is as close as I get to it. What is SDSIJ I've never cut a row crop but 170 bushel corn sounds like fun, especially if it was worth 4 bucks. Crops in his area (east central Alberta) are average at best. South and North of there are worse. I also enjoy small position speculating in corn and beans and cattle and bonds and.... Jeff, what do all but dead beans yieldIJ dt

WOW! At my farm at losantville, IN (half way between Muncie and Richmond),corn planted the same week you planted is still in the dent stage but almost done. I doubt the moisture content will be below 20% until early November. We have been blessed with a bunch of rain this growing season. The leaves on the earliest soybeans are just starting to yellow. So it will be the first week in October before we run beans.

I don't know yet what all but dead beans will yeild. We might disk them under before we find out. Is it worth the money to harvest 5 bushel beansIJ

Well SDS is Sudden Death Syndrome. It is when this little nematode (little worm of some kind) gets into the bean root system and all at once they die. They will look outstanding one week and dead the next. A wet season helps this along. Can sure ruin and bean field in a hurry.

I have had the pleasure if any pleasure could be found in cutting 6.7bu_ac soybeanslast fall due to our drought in Nortwest TN. My other option was to cut them for hay. The problem has that I don't eat hay. County average ended up at 12bu_ac.
