Combines Stewart Steel axcellar

I did the Axceller kit conversion on my 1992 1680 with specialty rotor and used the existing transition cone. No problems it works great, you will love it in green stemed beans.

I kept insisting with the dealer that the rotor cones were no different from what I could see, but I was continually told it was different. So I purchased a new rotor cone, but it is no different, all I can see is it has more vane mounting holes. First time I have heard this "shallow" thing. What it does is suck down the vanes against the cone because there are now more bolts to hold them down. Before with less holes, some of the vanes were not touching the cone between the longer distance between existing holes. All CASEIHC has done is "improve" quality of vanes sitting against the rotor cone because of more bolts. The extra holes now means a new part number for the cone, and now they can say you need to replace the cone, and this brings in extra sales to meet their sales projections. Just another one of the OEM ploys to empty the farmers pocketsIJ CASEIHC dealers are not informed enough to know what is different - they see a new part number, their sales rep for their region says, yep, you have to have this new cone, and the information as to what the change is has likely been kept from him alsoIJ Keep everyone in the dark - this way the dealers believe what they "think", not what the change really is, because no one knows or will tell themIJ

local dealer told us that they were installing the new AFX rotors without new cones. If vanes were worn, they were installing new vanes, and just drilling the extra holes. I'm sorry that not all dealers are good. I imagine that goes for more than one color. Chads

I put the 52 hole extenda-wear (3_16) vanes in 33 hole cones. Just drill the cone where the 52 hole vanes have the hole already, you don't have to take the rotor out.. When you are in there put in new bolts at the back where the cone bolts to the cage, the heads wear off. I weld up any thin spots in the cone too. I wonder how a cone wears with the new auger frontIJIJIJ Shouldn't wear as bad as the ears wore them.

I have put 52 hole vanes in both my combines I used lowen vanes and drilled the holes. Have a good supply of 3_8 drill bits around. You'll need them. of course both of my cones where rice spec one was lowen one was CaseIH.Both were very very hard It was worth it to put the extra bolts in though,I have not tossed a vane in two years. I would like to go to the AFX or Stewart steel but Iwon't do it till I wear out what I've got. later, Will

WE had the front of our specialty rotor tear up and take out all the veins. We replaced it with a afx and the new veins, did not replace cone just drilled a lot of holes. The afx is big improvement over the specialty rotor, you notice it as soon as you run the machine, just watch the engine rpms. This was on a 2001, 2388.

There's no difference in the cones except more holes. The vanes are the same, extenda-wear just thicker steel. When we put the Axceller kit in our 2388, we replaced the cone because it was worn out. But the only difference between the new AFX style cone and our old one was the number of holes. You'll love the Axceller kit, especially in green stemmed soybeans. Much quieter operation too.
