Combines Stewart steel Axceller

Yep, they work great. We installed one on our '98 2388 rice rotor. No more rotor rumble or rotor rpm drop in green crops. Increased our ground speed quite a bit. They don't recommend it for the standard rotor, so I can't say how it would work or if it will even bolt up. I've discussed this several times on the forum if you scroll down the page. Now, the cost is pretty high. If your old rotor needs rasp bars, you might be better off ordering a complete AFX rotor. I don't know if Case-IH will sell it for the 1680, but you might be able to talk them in to it. If you would like some photos go to farmphoto at the link below. If you want more pics or have more questions, email me.

Deadduck: Do you know did CIH also change the angle of the bars on the AFXIJ Or if they did does it even matterIJ If I remember from a previous post the approximate cost of accelerator is $1800. That sounds reasonable if you get all the bennefits of the AFX. Thanks! CW

Wolffman, I can't answer that. I don't think they did, but I'm not sure. Cajun Boy put an AFX rotor in his 2188 this year, maybe he can shed some light on exactly what the differences are. I know the cone at the front of the rotor is longer on the AFX. Maybe Cajun Boy will chime in on this. As far as the results, I have run a neighbors 2388 with the AFX rotor, and ours seems very similar in performance. A new AFX rotor from Case-IH is $4700 or so, but they recommend you change out the transition cone ($1200 or so). Del at Stewart Steel told me that they recommended their Axceller kit be used with the standard cone. They also recommend the larger rotor drive pulleys ($1000). I'm not sure if the pulleys would increase performance much or not, but I didn't upgrade them. So it is a cost effective modification, IMO.

Stewart says that the new auger front is only for 1688 or newer combines with specialty rotors. Better check with them on the 1680 and regular rotor issue.

I would be interested in knowing if the Gordon Bars are working with the afx or the Stewart steel
