For your information there has been at least two different Stewart Steel AFX style conversions built. First design auger flights just even with the outer edge of the bars (outer most diameter of rotor, then a second design tapers out much like the OEM AFX design or original elephant ears. Trust me make sure whomever you purchase the kit from understands this upfront, we paid part of the freight both ways on two separate occacations for the flub up. I was surprised either my local dealer nor Stewart Steel would eat this boo boo. The smaller auger flight fed OK thru machine, probably even takes less Hp, but you have more being returned around feeder house chain, and have a pile of dead material setting at the bottom of cone all the time (more chance of rust. Would not worry much about conditon of vanes either. Guarantee the early design left 5" between auger and cone. Other than that I really like the way they work. Just make sure you get current production stock and have it in your purchase order that they will be the larger tapered auger flighs... Just my humble opinion!
