Combines still waiting

I know they changed the rotors on the later 480's, did they make another changeIJ I guess I'm somewhat disapointed in capacity in dry wheat considering the size of the machine. Hope they changed them enough to make noticable difference. I know about the sieve change, but grain loss occurs on the seperators also, and that is where my concern is. Sieves can be adjusted to match capacity and speed, but once it lights up grain loss on the sep. there isn't much you can do.

Your problem with capacity in dry wheat is the 480's cleaning system, and it isn't a fan issue as much as it is an overall dynamics issue. What you need to do is invest in the TM6 cleaning sieve (both upper and lower) to maximize air pressure to clean and alleviate excess loss in dry conditions et. al. There is no other explanation that can be given. You can invest in all of the cover plates and modification you want, but, unless you invest in the TM6 sieves, you will never be able to completely solve your capacity issue.

Has anyone heard about lexion 590 trying to set a new world record by harvesting 800 acres of corn in 24 hours. h

Heard it from fert and chemical rep. I know the farm, they are running 8 combines at present time. They have capacity to handle that volume of corn. If i hear any more i will post it.

So whats the problem with grain loss out the seperatorsIJIJIJIJ I'm not talking Sieves, comming off the back of the rotors, whats their big fixIJ Sieves are only 1_2 of the issue.

It certainly isn't a cover plate problem (lets all make cover plates, they solve all problems! Put some more air in the tires, see what that will cure). In extremely dry conditions, rotor loss is typically caused by the rotor RPM being too fast (it will also cause increased straw damage which overloads whatIJ The sieves, immagine that!). Slow them to the 640RPM pulley or below if possible, unless of course you have the rotor variator. If not equipped with the variator, buy the 500RPM pulley set, and what the heck, make or buy some more cover plates!

The difference in the seperation unit is that the rotors are smaller with paddles simular to the aps. the concaves around the rotors are made of wire. They are jagged, I guess this keeps the crop rolling as it is fed through the rotors. They are very simular to the 470R series rotors. I can,t answer on the small grains, but we had a 470 and traded for a 470R and there was a big difference between the two in popcorn. We were able to be gentle with the cylinder and aggresive with the rotors. our quality increased. Didnt see much gain in beans, only that we havent plugged the 470R yet. Knock on wood.

What can you tell me about the TM6 sieves. Will they helpIJ We farm popcorn, White corn and beans. Sometimes a little wheat. or are they more help in small grainsIJ
