I think you can remove shim's on the concave bottom to get the lever to go over center farther making it harder to spring open. If that doesn't work I would replace the lever. If I remember correctly I figured that a slug didn't open the door fast enough it was more like a push open and the spring latches flipped back closed. I finally got it to where I can close the door with one foot and trip the two spring latches with the other and it only comes open for rocks. I know your frustration. Hope that helps, Part-time

we had the same problem w our F3. we replaced lever and spring. helped some but still opens at times. and the light problem is bad too, so bad even had dealer fix it , lasted till the second time door opened.

Check the back door. Check the 4 bolts and the angle the bolts go through. If the back bolt up door is broke or the bolts loose, the strikers will bypass the latch levers as the assy gives. The door will then open with the latches remaining closed. If this is not the case turn the striker plates to a new edge and drill out the holes so they can be moved closer to the latches.

Had same problems on F and F2. Make sure there are threshing components on the door itself because that should be the first place of cylinder contact to thresh and open if a object enters. Secondly, junk the system they put on them, been there done that....several times. I now put a male and female connector on the door and to the combine control panel and when the door opens, it separates the wire breaking the connection and thus the light and beeper are triggered. The bad part is, make sure you put it back together once you put the door back up! There are other adjustments if need be, but lets start here! -Ed ps. Went to a CIH 1660 and it is a great machine. The F's and F2's are good too, but not great! ;-) Still have not seen the perfect machine, but maybe someday!

1- you may need another bead of weld. 2-turn your striker plates to an unworen positon or replace. 3-shim plates tight to latches . i added another micro switch that blowes an added horn when door opens not the latch. possable source-back up alarm available at auto parts -uap ,walmart etc.
