James what rpm are you running your cyl. atIJIt sounds like you are having an over-thrash

2 questions--Do you have filler plates installed in the cylinderIJ These can prevent the leading side of the cylinder bars (the angled face) from carrying larger trash to the walkers and will force it thru the back side of the concave also causing overthresh. Are you operating with filler plates under the front of the concaveIJ The wider spacing of the front crossbars on the 10 series concave can force more straw thru in that area if you're set very tightly--another indication of need for concave front fillers would be whitecapping. Keldman is likely correct in suggesting that you're blowing past the monitors. Whitecaps would blow out more easily, also, due to more wind resistance. Hope this helps.

MOre questions--How much strawIJ Where is it located--from the front of the precleaner to the rear or just on the rear portionIJ Is it torn into small pieces or is it mostly full lengthIJ

This is a stab in the dark, but it reminded me of a combine we bought that had a non-adjustable airfoil chaffer, installed backwards!, in fact we ran it, and had the same problem as you, and then realized the problem, it did a surpisingly good job, it just wouldn't get rid of the last bit of straw. An easy fix

I've seen that too, though you never expect it. All that fan speed and reasonable loss could indicate something like that. The reason for asking about the size of straw and location is because it could be falling from the auger bed under the walkers (large pieces) and essentially nothing to worry about.

Suggest you install fillers under the front of the concave--JD has a kit for this--you can probably install 1 row of inserts in the rear of the concave in the row immediately behind where the suspension wires end without much problem--any more and you would likely lose too much separation of grain and would probably find more than wanted on the straw walkers. You didn't mention whether you have fillers installed in the cylinder between the cylinder bars. If you do, I'd suggest removing them. Also, not mentioned previously are cylinder bars. If the teeth are worn down too far they won't carry straw well. Guage them by laying a lead pencil next to a tooth in the area where the return has been dumping. Tooth height should match pencil thickness. If not, consider replacement. last, if you're not already doing so, lower the beater grate to the bottom position (unless you're seeing a lot of grain on the walkers)to prevent the beater from forcing straw thru. Hope all this does some good.
