Combines Straw Plugging Radiator

We have a 91 that does the same thing. It has since new. I have attended several dealer maintenance workshops and asked the question of the dealer and also the other combine owners. It seems like about one-half of the people had the problem, and half didn't. The only thing we have been able to do is blow out the radiator about every other day.

Does it do it all the time IJ When I ran RandD 9600 and 9610 it happened when the staw was breaking up badly and with a strong tail wind, we found running with the steps panel open helped, it didn't stop it but made it better. Hope this helps.

We had the same problem on a '90 9600. Finally changed from factory 5.5 fin per inch rad to a 4 fin per inch. Solved the problem. We were cleaning the rad 1 to 3 times daily, now every other day or as needed.

I have the same problem on a CTS combine. The trouble is this, the fan is pulling air in so fast that the rotary screen sucks in so when the chaff cleaner is going around and around can't suck the chaff off. I have to stop the combine completely and let it idle for a few minutes then start up again. I think John Deere needs to change the screen to something heavier and have a heavy duty drive instead of the cs belt drive it has now.
