if you have all forward bars you might try separator grate covers. Extending the helical over the lH side of the crop entrance to the cyl.will also help. For pictures of this click on TIPS to your left there then upgrades then P3 and look around.

You will never get straw as long as from a conventional combine. I found choosing the right variety had more affect than any combine alteration or adjustment. Clean grain and drier straw survives better than tough, weedy grain. No matter what anyone says, if you can get it baled, beatup rotary straw from a Gleaner is the nicest bedding there is - lots of chaff and it shakes out beautifully in the barn.

We bale barley straw behind an N6. Find that while the row is smaller than a conventional we still get a good bale if we bale at night_early morning.
