Firstly, I would take a look at why your current header is backfeeding at such relatively slow speeds. Your stipper plates across your header troughs backsheet, behind the auger, should be at a tolerance of no more than a "business card" thick. Improper stipper plates will cause exactly what you described. Also, if your header is of the vintage where the table auger can be replaced or updated with full-width retractible fingers, that is also a definite aid in straw feeding. Check those two items out before spending the money on a new head.
