Combines STS against the 2388

I compared the 9750STS and 9650STS to the 2388 and am convinced that the 2388 is a much more simple machine to operate and maintain. Take a look and count the belts and pulleys and how easy they are to get to. The Cummins Engine is solid and I am sure you could rebuild it for a lot less than the JD if the need ever came up. Out of fairness, let me say that EVERY one of our tractors is green along with our telehandler and windrower. My 2388 is the only non-JD powered implement that we have. I have neighbors with the STS's and they are good machines but seem to have a lot more parts to accomplish the same job.

"....Deere is the good job the spreaders do in spreading residue".IJ!IJ!IJ!IJ Surely you are pulling our legIJ Over on the Deere page the chopper and spreading are the biggest complained about features of the sts. From what I've seen they have a good reason to complain. The Red internal chopper and spreaders are way superior to Deeres no questioned about it.

I hear where you are comming from in regards to your 2144 not being able to spread residue. We had a 2166 that had a 17.5' bean head and could not spread tough bean straw. Our new 2388 has a chopper in it and the spreaders look like they will do the job much better, they have curved bats instead of the pieces of rubber that always were snagging straw. Havent tried them yet though.

Yeah, the case chopper and curved paddle spreader do a pretty good job and seem to take less power than the deere chopppers. Not much doubt that deere makes money selling parts. No wonder that they shelved the simple birotor which didn't have so many augers to wear and damage grain. Too bad case didn't buy that instead of deere.

Why don't you just put the spreader kit onto your 2144, if that's one of your concerns. If you are selling your 2144 i might be interested. You can email me at jakebird@santel.net
