Combines STS Concave warranty questions

Why would any company warranty a concave that was damaged by a rockIJ To matter what type of steel, they're not flexible.

They should warranty it if the rock trap does not work correctly.

Unfortunately concave damage and excessive wear is a problem on STS as we found on ours. Just ask around and you hear all kind of stories from worn out concaves in one season to complete concaves flying out the machine after ingesting something unsuitable. The rock traps did work for us but they are for rocks only. As with most other equipment, warranty is only for the first year.

Combines aren't rock pickers, and a rock trap is no guarantee that you aren't going to feed a few of them through. This is especially true if you don't dump the trap at least once a day, if not more. I've seen more than one person with feeder house drums that looked like they had been beat with a sledge daily complain about the damage they got from rocks. If this sounds like your machine, or a machine you owned in the past, you don't exactly have the moral high ground when you go complain to your dealer or manufacturer.

Sounds like you grew up on heavy clay gumbo! We look to buy our used combines from those folks then proceed to get them looking like they were beat with a sledge in a day or two harvesting short crops or pulses. We don't all live on nice land. Our rocks are married with families.

gleaners are the only combines made that a rock door acually works
