Combines STS grain tank problems

I've seen the front legs of the grain tank on 9750's broken badly, Deere has a repair kit for it that is good. I think in rough going ground the combination of bulk tank wieght and the cab movement start the problem. I've only seen this in machines in a rental program that are flogged. I haven't seen any 9550's so have nothing there.

I'm not arguing with you at all. But really not enough differences to mention. We ran a 9750 for 2 years and had every single vari speed thing rebuilt on it. Throat, rotor, fan. Had a few rotor belts go out. Throat belts...I got good at changing them. In my opinion its just a poorly designed, and cheap built combine. 1 question. Whats the differences between an 9750 and 9760IJ Besides cosmetics.

Big engine changes for the emmisions regulations. lots more fuel to run all the emmisions control gadgets, just a little more power.

The cleaning fan and the chaffer configuration are different, giving about 20% increased cleaning capacity. The concaves are wider at the top to allow easier re-entry of the crop into the concaves. 3.3 bu_sec unloading. Remote adjustment for chaffer and sieves just to mention a few things.

Oh yeah, forgot the big unloading system. Std on 9860 and optional on 9760 for 2004 models. Std on 9860, 9760 and optional on 9660 for 2005 models.

That depends on what specific 9750 you're comparing to a 9760. Earlier 9750s used the pump_nozzle version of the 6081 engine. later ones went to the high-pressure common-rail (HPCR) system that's used in the 9760. The 3.3 bu_sec unload rate on the 9760 would be a big difference. And then there's the single-point header hookup on the 60-series that the 50-series doesn't have. Anybody that says they're the "same" hasn't looked very closely.

The 300-bushel tank comes with the optional 3.3 bu_sec unloading system on the 9660. Most of the tank cracking failures we've seen have been due to some of the huge extensions guys in this area put on. One 9860 in particular has a big enough extension and two sets of tip-ups to hold better than 450 bushels. Anytime you put 28,000+ lbs of corn in a grain tank and start bouncing across pivot tracks, you can expect to see tank sides bulging and cracks.
