was the CTS a 9650IJ and did it have enough power or notIJ also was this a 2002 w_ the new engine that is having problems w_ the ECUIJ. Myself I would like to see deere push the cts more than they have, from what I've heard. its quite a machine in small grains, beans and also corn.

The 9880 is nothing more than a farse! It is a 9750 STS (335hp) repowered to handle the residue management of heavy straw type crops of Europe. The 9880 is every bit the same as the 9750 STS (and 9650 STS) when it comes to physical dimensions and specifications, with no major upgrades made to its drive systems accomodating 400+ hp. It is still only a class 7 machine, whereas the Claas 480's are class 8's. The lexion 480 is a far more substantial and robust machine when compared to the 9880 and boasts capacities and productivity far beyond those of any JD STS combine.

If you wanted to exagerate the situation, why didn't you say that the 9880 is nothing more than a 9650 STS repowered to handle heavy straw conditionsIJ Or maybe one should say that if Deere has the confidence to put out an STS at 400+ hp, then the 280 and 325 hp versions must be rock solid in their drives systems. It's all just a matter of perspective. I don't understand the farse here. New Holland detunes TX machines for North America and so does Claas_CAT. Case IH hasn't changed the rotor size from the 1480 through to the 2388 yet there is no argument that the 2388 is twice the machine. Useful power is everything in rotary machines running in tall, damp wheat_oats_barley straw even if you don't need it for residue management.

I've heard that all the STS owners in UK have had big problems with slipping rotor belts. JD have removed several of the threashing lugs from the rotor so the machine uses less power. They have also promised a different rotor drive belt and pulleys for next season, any of you US guys heard of thisIJ It also seems there is a big problem with feeding on the table - many customers have been offered a rape extension to handle rape when cut direct as they don't perform very well here either.
