Combines STS to many moving parts

Not that I think an STS is perfect by any means.....but do you really think I'm going to buy that a silver seeder is much betterIJ Why wouldn't a gleaner be cheaperIJ As many mod's as you guys have to put on those wonderful agco creations you still end up spending what we did.........you just drag it out longer. No, your going to have to elaborate a bit. It makes no sense to me why you'd gripe about gear boxes and lots of chains unless you had to replace a load. Didn't see anywhere in your post where you did or that they failed. Cost on this machinery from the factory will never be reduced.....it's only going to go higher and that fits the bill with all of them.....I don't care how much cheaper they try to make the design. labor costs go up every year. Thank the unions kindly for that!

Deerebines, Not trying to take sides but the Gleaner Rotary is NOT a creation of Agco.I would'nt argue if the new Deere Rotary is as good or better than the other rotaries out there, because I havent driven one,but there is alot of people driving rotories now that wouldnt have until they got green and yellow paint. And that is a fact. And Im going to drive a gleaner as long as my banker lets me farm.Thats what makes this the best country in the world to live in. Freedom to choose. Illinois Gleaner

I agree the cost will never be reduced. The machine I ran had less than 300 hrs on it. It should not break down but it did in 100 hrs it had 3 bearing failures the chopper belt idler pully broke and the concave adj. linkage broke it was built way to light, thats suprising since that jolly green giant is so dang heavy. I've ran my Gleaners up to 3000hrs, yes thousand and didnt have much trouble out side of maintenance. I cant wait to see how these look with that many hours A 9600 with that many are junk or have had a ton of money spent on them, Face it, there throw away combines!!! they remind me of the first N6 with the cyclinder in it the wrong way! painted in that overpriced arogant green paint! The drive line that runs the lengh of the combine is a stupid idea it comes from A gear box to another gear box all to run a belt thats running the same way it started. Why do they still have that redicules drive chain on the right of the feeder house thats a very high were item its been there since the 8820's. look at all the bevel gears driving all those augers under the cycl. and to top it off does a horrible job on hillsides without one of those sidehill contraptions! Good thing its green or it would have been a flop!!! Suckers!!! The cab was decent.

I've got news for you....that recycled coop stock tank is just as big of a p.o.s. at 3000 hours as a deere is. There have been several deere's listed (9600's) in the fastline that are still in usable shape and still holding a fair value for what they are. Wasn't saying deeres the best....lord knows dakota has painted a picture of thier problems. But, don't you shuffle your perty lil galvenized rear in here and brag about that rolling barn tin and expect anyone in here to think it's gawd's gift to the farmer and then knock a deere on it's haunches to boot. They all need improvement and they all are flawed and until a farmer has any weight over a corporation (which we won't) they ain't changing squat. later Deerebines

I.G. Wasn't trying to instill the idea I think gleaners are junk. I know that they can or must be fairly decent for a few of you out there otherwise there wouldn't be as many as there are. Just wanted to point out that if someone is going to badmouth one....brag another...then there dam well better be some reasons why. I never won a livestock judging contest as a kid without giving good reasons...I don't think here should be any different. later Deerebines

lovely to read your opinions. Well, my boss ran Gleaner from 76 till 87 and went broke with them. So I don't have to ask him anymore about that. A good friend of ours still runs Gleaner. Sometimes he tells us what flies apart on his machines. No, they aren't really bad. But he also has good service people from Gleaner helping him out. Still Silverblood has a point here. Those shoe augers on them Deer were good in the times of the 9600 but are sure outdated and badly positioned on the STS. And I can tell you Deerebines as long as there is competition on the combine market we have a little influence on these big corporations. OUR GREEN DAYS ARE OVER.

Personally Dakota, I'd like to see deere bring back that bi-rotor and make a combine for everyone for once! It will never happen.....to less moving parts....to easy to work on........longevity is greater than anything we've seen so far. And purchase price would make it so every farmer could afford a newer machine instead of running the higher hour, more need of tlc machines. Yep, your right......Deere, cnh, cat, agco.....they all got the farmer by the nuts. Maybe the amish are on to something after allIJIJ. NAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. later Deerebines
